I began taking photography classes in high school, then majored in photojournalism at Northern Arizona University here I received my bachelor of journalism degree. My first few jobs as a reporter included both photography and writing but as time went on and my career progressed, I became a writer, not a photographer. Photography all but faded from my life with my shooting relegated to vacations with my point-and-shoot.
Then digital happened. I became obsessed once again.
Now I’m a writer, editor and photographer, getting paid for all of them in different ways. It’s a wild, crazy, expensive obsession. And I love it.
I call this blog “Behind the Picture” so that I can tell some of the things that happened when I captured an image and so that I can learn from other photographers what it took to capture some of their images.

Hi, Diana, from Fairbanks, Alaska. Do you have a sister or other relative in Alaska? You look familiar somehow.
